In just two days (Dec. 19), the Electoral College will certify the results of the presidential election. There can – and should – be honest debate on the relative merits of encouraging delegates now pledged to vote for Trump to flip their vote, or simply not to vote. However, it would be unpresidented – oops, I mean unprecedented – were this to be the result of CIA “intelligence” every bit as fraudulent as evidence on Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) that was fabricated by Ray’s former colleagues to help George W. Bush and Dick Cheney “justify” the attack on Iraq.
Needless to say, this is serious. Members of the Electoral College who meet Monday in state capitols have been subjected to an unparalleled media blitz blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin – without a trace of persuasive evidence – for interfering in the election so as to ensure a Trump victory. This is WMD-type BS. But recent history shows that many Americans find it hard to do critical thinking in the midst of a blizzard of snow-jobs – the more so when the media winds from New York and Washington blow the same wet snow sticking to them from all directions. The danger is that those Electoral College delegates, who get their “news” and commentary from TV stations and cable news outlets, will be persuaded that it is their patriotic duty to un-elect someone that “everybody knows” was elected only because the Russians helped with their dirty tricks.**
The heavies in the Washington Establishment (including Hillary Clinton, John Podesta, and CIA chief John Brennan) have strong incentive to keep Trump out. They have pulled out all the stops, using the corporate media to “show” that Hillary Clinton would have won absent a heavy Russian thumb on the scale. The media have seldom been more effective implementing President George W. Bush’s dictum to “catapult the propaganda.” Amidst all this, Ray and his VIPS colleagues have done everything they could to expose what is going on (see other postings on raymcgovern.com).
So, again, if there is some way to get this out into the open, beyond alternative media, PLEASE DO!
