At a small ceremony in Berkeley Tuesday, David Hartsough, on behalf of Sam Adams Associates, presented Dan Ellsberg with our traditional “Oscar” – a Corner-Brightener Candlestick Holder (to help shine light into dark places). See the Sam Adams Award website – samadamsaward.ch – for background. Dan is the 22nd awardee (while in reality he has been godfather, or patron saint to us all). He said he was proud to join the earlier 21.
The not-widely-known story of Dan’s very first leak may have application today – in helping to thwart the widening of yet another war. We shoehorned that story into the Citation itself:
